It's snowing in that perfect way - just enough to transform the landscape, but not enough to inconvenience us.

The Christmas tree will need to finally come down tomorrow, but tonight I will bask in its glow one more time.

Soup is simmering on the stove.

I'm sipping a delicious chocolate porter.

I've spent all day thoroughly engrossed in David Mitchell's "The Bone Clocks" and I probably won't move from the couch until it's done.

It really doesn't take much to make me happy.

What are you doing on this first Saturday night of 2015?
I hope yours is as lovely as mine.

  1. A friend stopped by as I was taking down Christmas decorations...so i stopped and we had a glass of wine (or two). I made some pasta and had some Trader Joe's Clams in Garlic Sauce to top it off. A lovely evening, even if the Air Conditioning is on, and there is no snow. Happy New Year!

  2. Happy New Year, Karen! Our tree came down Jan 1 as I insisted we put the house back in order--hoping for showings now that the holidays are over. The snow was pretty, wasn't it? But I'm glad it won't stick around. :-)

  3. The snow was pretty coming down, Karen...sounds like a perfect Saturday indeed. Mine was likewise enjoyable (containing art and reading too, even a few light chores..!)and ended with helping my older son shovel the driveway in the middle of the night! I slept like a baby after that. Happy New Year!

  4. K--sounds lovely, my friend and I'm with you -- it is the small pleasures in life that I enjoy. We didn't even have an Xmas tree this year (first time in 40 years!) but the garland and lights were just perfect and so pretty. I have been reading and relaxing too. Happy 2015 to you and your family! xo

  5. There's not much more I could ask for from a day - falling snow, soup on the stove and a good book. My Christmas all came down on Saturday and my house is clean and fresh and new, always a good feeling even though I always dread the Christmas season being over.

Now I'm off to check out that book - "The Bone Clocks" sounds very intriguing.

  7. Your beautiful collage caught my attention and then the mention of a chocolate porter. I may have been enjoying a vanilla porter and reading "A Dirty Job" by Christopher Moore. Now I'm on to "The Dressmaker of Khair Khana". Wishing you a wonderful 2015 and a few more lovely Saturdays with soup and a just a touch of snow!
