Love them all! :-) You crack me up too! I need a background tutorial! Do you use acrylic paint? Or ink? or water color? a spray bottle? a brush? a sponge? Light colors first and then dark colors? Or dark colors first and then light? Or it depends? I have no idea what I'm doing 90% of the time!
Thanks Lynn! These particular backgrounds were done with spray paint (like the kind you find at a hardware store) and stencils. I used 3 colors plus black, starting with the lightest (a pale lime green) then changing stencils and spraying light blue, then changing stencils and using darker teal/aqua, and then adding some black highlights with yet another stencil. I like to buy those die-cut pieces of scrapbook paper (sold individually in the scrapbooking aisle of the big craft stores) and use them as stencils. Even though they're basically made of card stock, they stand up to stenciling for a long time before wearing out.
You're a twisted lady, you are! I've used those die cut papers as stencils too and they work really well - and for a $1 or so, it's a pretty cheap option. Thanks for the chuckle....you and Tracey - keeping me in smiles!
You crack ME up too. Family photos, or just some fun ones from your recent trouncing around second hand stores? I betcha I could find some family photos like these... :D Thanks for the giggles, as always!
i think you have many many fun postcard books in your future! i can see whole volumes of a continuous, crazy fun story!
I was so thrilled to find some "in my hot little hands" mail love waiting for me the other day (week? sheesh! I am sorry I am sooo out of time here ... days spiraling into one and another) A reminder that Fall is almost here and that is when I tend to hunker down with some art supplies and get busy!
Fantastic! What more can I say...?
ReplyDeleteReally fun!
