Two things I always forget about summer

(we won't even talk about mosquitoes)

Nothing like vermin to bring out my true colors.

  1. More awesomely carved stamps, eh?
Sorry about the ants. I remember them well. Since Tika's been gone the last two years we haven't had any that I can recall (they'd wind there way forever to go towards her food, yech!). Now watch, they'll come in gangbusters any day now.....

    1. these ants don't care at all about food. they like the damp, and congregate in the bathroom, especially in a heat wave like this. I put out ant bait a few days ago and I think they found it yesterday because it was like a keg party in there last night. hopefully the bait will work and we will see a reduction in their ranks.

  2. The heat brings out this army of red ants - thousands of them that live in the woods above our garage. The march down the driveway get whatever they come to get, march back up the 100 foot hill and disappear back into the woods. Two weeks and th.en they are gone....we are so outnumbered by bugs.......saw a giant horse fly not kidding one onch long blsck thing, scared the crap out of me....bugs.....did you make these as stamps? xox

    1. indeed, I did carve those as stamps. I'm not terribly squeamish about bugs, the the big black ants in the house every year just drive me to the brink.

  3. Love these!
We should do a series on bugs who party. My husband hates spiders, so he bought these stupid sonic things you plug into the outlets that are supposed to deter them, but now there are at least 2 spiders living on each one, with little webs full of "snacks for later". Your ants are having a kegger, my spiders are having a luau. :-)

  4. One of the best things about living in the NW is the lack of bugs. We have very few flying or crawling buggy things and I like that just fine. Whenever we vacation in the midwest or back east we're always surprised at the sheer volume of bugs!

We see the occasional spider and the rarer mosquito and I had some ants in the garden last year.....but nothing on the level you ladies deal with!

    1. I miss that! My first Seattle apartment didn't even have screens. (granted it was kind of a dump, but still, nothing ever flew in the window). I would be carried off by mosquitoes, moths and june bugs if I didn't have screens. and New England's got nothing on the South!

  5. Just as Terrie commented above, we have very few bugs where we live. We do get ants but seldom flies or mosquitoes or other flying bugs.

  11. Wow...when I was growing up the only place you'd see the "f-word" was on grimy public bathroom walls! :-)

  12. We've had so many ants and so many crickets! I hate this, because I can't bear to kill anything!

  13. Love that you have stamps for both of these!! We've had horrible silverfish (shudder) and spiders this summer. Silverfish and mosquitos are the only exceptions to my "no kill" rule. There, I said it! xx

  14. The ants got as high as our balcony on the 4th floor and still try to get a plantage to feed them. It is interesting to see them interact with blackflies.

    Love your carved stamps!
